- MedImmune submits Marketing Authorisation Application in EU for intranasal flu vaccine MedImmune, the global biologics unit of AstraZeneca, announced that it has submitted a Marketing Authorisation Application (MAA) for its nasal spray live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV), which is now being reviewed by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA).

- PNNL proteomics scientist named rising young star Wei-Jun Qian, a scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is one of 30 "rising young stars" named by Genome Technology magazine. Qian is an expert in proteomics — the study of proteins. His work is giving a better understanding of cell signaling and protein biomarkers for human diseases.
