Summary:
The Associate Director position is a leadership role within the Global Medical Information department. The Associate Director works with the Director to help formulate the strategic vision for the team and execute on the tactics to achieve that vision.
The Associate Director further contributes to the team through mentorship and will have responsibility for managing and supervising direct reports. In this supervisory role, the individual is expected to help oversee onboarding and training, provide program-related strategic guidance, and contribute to the professional development of others.
The Associate Director provides guidance and oversight for multiple programs and products and helps plan and execute on critical medical information deliverables. As such, the Associate Director must leverage comprehensive understanding and experience with Medical Information functions, including compliant scientific exchange, promotional review, medical letter creation, and contact center operations.
The role requires an advanced level of scientific and clinical knowledge to support multiple programs and provide strategic and tactical guidance to multiple programs or products as an oncology subject matter expert (SME). The Associate Director is expected to lead strategic planning and contribute to the development of Medical Information content, generation of metrics and insights, and responses to unsolicited medical information requests.
The Associate Director must also work collaboratively across the organization and represent Medical Information in cross functional collaborations and/or external alliance partnerships.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with Director and Senior Medical Affairs leadership to help set long range plans and contribute to strategic vision of the department and function
- Establish and execute on program-specific operational objectives and assignments.
- Providing program-related strategic guidance and mentorship for one or more direct reports.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Fellows, contractors, and junior team members
- Assist team members with onboarding, continual training, and education
- Represent the Medical Information team on cross-functional collaborations, including product-specific committees, working groups, and sub-teams
- Contribute to quality Medical Reviews as part of Promotional Review Committee
- Act as an oncology SME to provide medical support for one or more Seagen products or programs
- Critically analyze data from our Medical Information inquiry database to communicate metrics and insights to key stakeholders
- Oversee creation and maintenance of global and US medical information content to support marketed and pipeline products, including creation, update, and review of standard response documents
- Utilize appropriate resources to research and respond to unsolicited medical information inquiries in a balanced and scientific manner
- Facilitate intake and triage of adverse events and product complaints as they relate to Seagen’s products
- Provide quality assurance and constructive feedback to our call center to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance of Medical Information responses
- Critically analyze data from our Medical Information inquiry database to communicate metrics and insights to key stakeholders
- Contribute to multiple team projects and initiatives to achieve functional and department priorities
- Staff and support the medical affairs booth at scientific meetings and congresses and assist in creating pre-and post-meeting data summaries
- Perform other relevant tasks as requested
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years relevant pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience, particularly within Medical Affairs and in the field of hematology/oncology
- A demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications
Education:
- A clinical or advanced doctoral degree (MD, PhD or PharmD) is required
