Summary

Seagen is seeking an experienced person to oversee Real Estate and Workplace. In this newly created role, they will have the accountability of taking a critical review of Seagen’s real estate portfolio to capitalize on opportunities to drive cost efficiency while keeping it strategically align to the business. They will develop and implement property strategies that aligns all levels of a portfolio (e.g., site, country, regional) through each geographic scale and segment. In addition, they will also be responsible for developing and building an environment that connects the people, space, and culture in standardized way that creates a consist experience for Seagen staff. They will use data and analytics to drive improvements in customer insight, occupancy planning and employee workplace experience.

The role will report to the VP, Real Estate & Facilities (REF) and will collaborate with both internal and external groups and partners.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Taking accountability for the short-, medium- and long-term financial performance of all real estate asset classes that comprise the global portfolio
  • Working with real estate experts and advisors to develop highly creative and innovative real estate solutions that fully leverages Seagen property assets, creating value, lowering Seagen’s cost base, and creating new workplaces that drive higher employee productivity
  • Gaining approval for real estate strategies and property plans, policies, and best professional practices to support the company’s overall business plans
  • Understand and align Workplace strategies to corporate cultural and employee experience ambitions. Develop and implement those Workplace strategies globally to optimize and evolve the portfolio.
  • Supporting the development of Seagen culture through the ongoing development of a physical workspace environments such that it ensures that Seagen maintains its position as an employer of choice
  • Employ recognized change management techniques and processes throughout execution of responsibilities
  • Build healthy relationships with stakeholders and ensure alignment of capital planning strategies with the Business
  • Work in partnership with external real estate partners to derive and closely monitor pertinent performance metrics that will lead to the optimization of the real estate portfolio and create competitive advantage for Seagen. Identify, benchmark, and measure our performance against internal and external best-in-class key metrics
  • Deliver strategic real estate planning advice and support to Seagen senior leaders and their teams. Ensure that the provision of real estate advice meets business needs
  • Advance the principles of efficient utilisation of real estate and workspace experience worldwide by developing strategies, standards, and policies
  • Act as a Centre of Excellence to all business units providing awareness of and access to leading edge practices in workspace utilisation
  • Lead, engage and develop a team of workplace professionals with goals that advance the Real Estate and Workplace strategic plan
  • Manage and execute global move planning

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Business/ Real Estate/ Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum 10 years of global experience in some of the following industries: Real Estate, Facilities Management, Manufacturing, & Laboratory
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in a similar position with leadership responsibility controlling multinational real estate function
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a management role with the accountabilities of staffing, resource utilization, performance management, issue resolution, vendor management, and overall team performance
  • Minimum 2 years of Project Management experience with delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Sophisticated fiscal planning and leadership skills, with a strong understanding of the complexities and financial implications of real estate decisions of a multi-site environment
  • Advanced experience in real estate lease negotiation methodologies and business case modeling
  • Excellent client service and relationship building skills
  • Thoughtful and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • A collaborative partner committed to cross-departmental process improvements
  • Ability to understand complex integrated systems and to see patterns in data
  • Outstanding organization and effective initiative management skills
  • Ability to multi-task across high priority and time-sensitive deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred
  • 8-12 years of advancing experience within facilities management / leadership within a multi-site R&D laboratory, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environment
  • Corporate/ commercial real estate, project management, facilities management, certifications
